This blog is written primarily to the younger generation of all those below the age of 30. You could very likely be the ones to witness the full implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). This is a branch of computer science dealing with the simulation and capability of computers and machines to initiate intelligent human behavior, and to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision making, and translation between languages. Consider the following quotes and headlines:
“Google Rattles The Tech World With A New AI Chip For All.”
CBN News: “Freaky Future? How Humans and Machines Will Merg Through Nano-Devices.”
We are approaching “that moment in mankind’s history when all the advances in technology, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to machines that are smarter than human beings.” (Ray Kurzwell, Google’s Director of Engineering) He has also stated that 2045 is a target year for multiplying “our effective intelligence a billion fold by merging with the intelligence we have created.”
Not only this, but there is a drive to achieve immortality by merging people with machines, and the point where computers surpass humanity in intelligence. It is called singularity.
Now for another headline:
“New AI Research Makes It Easier To Create Fake Footage of Someone Speaking.” These are videos that look real, mouth shapes matched with audio recordings, pictures that look like the real person is speaking. A recent headline said, “Generating fake news videos that are undistinquishable from real ones is growing easier by the day.” University of Washington researchers have used AI to make videos that look real, putting things previously said in a whole new context.
Here are some more things to come, according to Terry Cook and Thomas Horn, authors of “Beast Tech.” Imagine a system “…tied into a universal Wi-Fi…highly intelligent cameras that are artificial intelligence along with software to automatically detect any ‘unusual’ movement (page xi).
How would you like to communicate with a computer using your power of thought? According to these two authors chip to brain implants are already being done. The first known recipient of such, a professor, is waiting for the next step, to have a wire run from his chip to his nervous system.
Combine all of this with microchipping. Several companies around the world, including the U.S., have already chipped their employees in their right hands. They can now open doors, turn on their computers, and buy food out of their vending machines just by waving their hand.
None of this technology was developed until now-the generation in which you live. So, as I said at the beginning of this article, if you are among the younger generation, you could very likely see this “new normal.” It could become part of your daily life.
Let me direct your thoughts in a new direction. The Bible says that in the days before the return of Jesus Christ, knowledge would increase dramatically. In all of history, everything we see today has happened since the first part of the 1900’s – in about the last 100 years. However, as much as knowledge, and particularly technology, has increased, it will never surpass the Divine Creator. In the words of Lauren Green, former Fox News Religion Correspondent, “God is infinitely wiser and more intelligent than even the collective intelligence of everyone on earth.” Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”
How about you? Do you find all of this exciting or scary?
