Most people, Christians and secular, have probably heard of the anti-Christ associated with the number 666. It is part of the Tribulation Period described in the Book of Revelation. If you read my previous article, “The Younger Generation is in For A Wild Ride,”  I gave several Bible verses which say that there is coming a time of great tribulation and judgment such as the world has never seen since the beginning of time. I know this is not a nice subject, but nonetheless, there appears to be a good amount of interest in it. It is the biblical narrative of what the future holds for the world before things get better. Is it really true that a time of severe judgment and divine intervention will occur at some point in the future? When one considers the fact, (and it is a fact) that prophecy is lining up with current events in the exact way that scripture says it will, it should not be taken lightly. Dozens of Bible prophecies have been fulfilled, and many are in the process of being fulfilled right now. With this said, there is good reason to believe that what Revelation says will happen, will happen.

While it is true that some of the Book of Revelation is symbolic, much of it is very clear and leaves no reason not to take it literally. I mentioned in the previous article mentioned above that some of what Revelation describes is already happening because we are in the time of history leading up to it. For a long time Christians, and everyone else who gives any credibility to this biblical account, may have believed that the Tribulation Period is something way off in the future, long after they are dead and gone. However, there are many indications that it is fast approaching.

I think it would be safe to say that there are more Bible prophecies being fulfilled all at the same time than ever before, some for the very first time! The other factor is that many prophecy scholars believe that the generation that has grown up with Israel becoming a nation in 1948, will be the same generation that sees the events of the Tribulation Period unfolding. I am part of that generation. I have seen first-hand how things have progressively gotten worse over the span of my almost 70 years.

From all indications, the world is living on the verge of the Tribulation Period. So what, exactly, will it be like? Revelation 9:6 says it will be so bad that “in those days {people}will seek death and will not find it, and they will long to die and death flees from them.”  There will so much fear that “the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains…”

There will be weather and storms the likes of which the world has never seen. Plagues will occur similar to those recorded in the Book of Exodus, like rivers and seas turning to blood, heat waves so bad that they will “scorch” people, intense darkness, and many other natural (actually supernatural) disasters that will be totally off the charts. Revelation  16:18 describes a lightning and thunder storm, combined with an earthquake, “such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth…” Verse 21 goes on to describe a storm of 100 pound hailstones. Several places in the Book of Revelation mention that one-third of the human race will be killed in various ways.

On top of all this judgment will be the rule of the anti-Christ and 666, who will cause all “the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or sell, except the one who has the mark…”  Even though this is open to much interpretation, it cannot be overlooked that microchipping is already taking place in the right hand. And technology is well under development making it possible to control every human being on planet earth. This system will be under the control of the anti-Christ, who will be Satan in human flesh. The “mark of the beast” will become mandatory, and everyone who receives it will be aligning themselves with Satan and his agenda. What happens to people who refuse to take the mark? The answer is given in Revelation 20:4. They will be beheaded!

This is only a “tip of the iceberg”of what the Tribulation Period will be like. You won’t want to be here. If you choose to believe that this all a bunch of baloney, you could be in for a very scary and fearful time, if you survive at all. Some people believe in an event called the rapture as a way of escaping the Tribulation and those who don’t call upon the name of the Lord will be left behind. Remember the movie by the same name? This is when God will call all the Christians out of the world. If you have not yet called upon the Lord for your salvation, or if you are a Christian who does not adhere to the pre-Trib rapture, you had better prepare for very difficult times. If you have not already done so, put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to save your soul from judgment and the wrath of God to come.
