Since I was growing up things have changed dramatically in America.  The younger generation knows no differently than how things are now. I will turn 70 next year. It is an entirely different world. When I was growing up

there were no control laws, but also mass shootings were extremely rare.

living together or having children before marriage was not even thought of.

marriage was only between a man and a woman.

abortion was unheard of.

students respected their teachers.

people saluted the flag and stood for the national anthem.

immigrants who came to this country did so legally, and learned English.

political campaigns and elections were won without a resistance movement trying to block the democratic process.

we were able to speak our minds without fear of intimidation, censure, or death threats.

we were able to eat in a restaurant without being harassed by someone of an opposing political party.

children were called boys and girls.

there was no need for transgender bathrooms because there were no transgenders.

there was no social media to take the place of making real friends by simply talking to people face to face.

people did not walk around with cell phones in their hands because there were no cell phones.

a business owner could refuse business to someone without facing a lawsuit.

public schools did not indoctrinate students with Islam or any other religion.

schools did not promote the LGBTQ agenda in the classroom because there was no LGBTQ agenda.

there was no entitlement mentality.

Much more could be said if I took the time to think about it.

What has changed the most are the moral and spiritual values. Absolute truth has evolved into relativism, and now post-truth. Standards of morality have changed into a culture of do whatever one wants to do. Right is wrong, and wrong is right. Many no longer have a conscience, if they even know what that is. There are actually more problems today than when I was growing up, because many of the things mentioned above have created more issues with negative consequences.

You of the younger generation will never know the America that used to be. In many ways people lived a much simpler life, without all the modern conveniences and distractions. When people lived by moral standards, conservative values, and biblical truth, there were fewer problems. If a married couple had a baby, planned or not, they kept and raised the child to the best of their ability. They assumed the role of parenthood. When people took a job they didn’t expect entitlements, but they had to earn their way up through honest, hard work. Human life was considered precious, not something to be taken with the pull of a trigger just because someone didn’t like or agree with another. Politicians actually worked together to bring about positive change without name-calling, death threats, or obstructionism. Presidential election results were accepted as the will of the people, period! There was no such thing as a “resistance movement” with the goal of impeaching a president for “crimes” he never committed, just to get him out of office.

I have witnessed a falling away of biblical truth. It has bemeen a long downhill but subtle slide. Even many so-called “Christians” have rejected the authority and inspiration of the Bible that they once lived by. Some conservative churches and denominations have succumbed to liberal theology and political correctness. Hence, there is no longer any standard by which to live one’s life. Therefore, it is not surprising that we are seeing all the things I have mentioned above.

Politically, never before has there been such a radical movement toward socialism. When I was growing up socialism is what America fought so hard against. Now there is a segment of the culture that is fighting for it, and according to a recent survey by the Daily Caller, 55 percent of young people favor it! Perhaps that is because they have little to which to compare it, from previous generations.

America has changed spiritually. It has always been considered “one nation under God” as expressed in the pledge to the flag. It is rapidly becoming a nation under gods. There are the gods of pop musicians, sports figures, and movie stars. Satanism is seeing a dramatic rise. The arch to the Old Testament pagan god of Baal has been erected in several major cities, including Washington D.C. Now there is a goal of making artificial intelligence into a god to be worshiped.

If you only knew what it used to be like, you would realize how much this nation has changed, and not for the better. In fact, you would probably long for things to return to how they used to be!  Take it from me. I remember how things were when I was in my teens and college years, and it saddens me greatly to see what has now become of our nation. Is there still a chance things will reverse? I certainly hope so, not so much for my benefit, but for the younger generations to follow.
